Is menstrual hygiene only a gender issue? A health issue? A social or emotional concern?

In reality, menstrual health is a human rights issue—one that continues to challenge the progress made toward gender equality across our societies. Access to safe, affordable (and ideally free) menstrual products remains out of reach for many, reinforcing inequality and limiting opportunities for women and girls.

At Ubusha Bami, we are proud to champion the Flow Freedom Project—an initiative dedicated to addressing period poverty and advancing inclusive menstrual health education among young people in underserved communities.

Flow Freedom works to:
• Provide access to essential sanitary products and hygiene packs
• Deliver educational workshops on menstrual health and hygiene
• Create safe, open spaces for both girls and boys to engage in informed conversations

Through this work, we aim to restore dignity, build confidence, improve school attendance, and challenge the stigma and misinformation surrounding menstruation.

If you would like to support the Flow Freedom Project in any capacity, please reach out to us at flowfreedom100@gmail.com or send us a direct message on any Ubusha Bami social media platform.
