The UB Ambassadors Programme is the driving force of our organisation — its hands and feet in action. Each year, we open a formal call for ambassador applications. Candidates are required to submit their applications within the stipulated timeframe and, if shortlisted, attend a scheduled interview. Throughout the process, we aim to provide every applicant with a professional and meaningful experience, similar to applying for a formal job opportunity.

Successful candidates are invited to attend an in-person induction workshop. During this session, ambassadors are introduced to:

  1. The work and impact of our organisation
  2. Our mission, vision, and core values
  3. A reflection on previous years’ activities and partnerships
  4. The expected conduct and responsibilities of UB Ambassadors
  5. Training on facilitating peer learning
  6. An open discussion to assess ambassadors’ expectations for the year

Ambassadors follow a structured annual programme with clearly defined goals and performance measures to track engagement and successful completion. Upon fulfilling all programme requirements, ambassadors receive a Certificate of Completion and a formal Letter of Recommendation.

Above all, this experience is designed to cultivate social advocacy, leadership, and community service among all participants.

Here are some glowing reviews from previous ambassadors:

“My favourite part [about being an UB ambassadors] is learning things about SRH that even I didn’t know especially as a teenager seeing as SRH knowledge is pretty uncommon in my age group, and how I get to be part of a group that advocates for it, which also gives me a sense of belonging while not only interacting with my age mates but the older ambassadors too” Ms Ofentse Mkhabela, UB Ambassador 2024-2025

“[I enjoy] connecting with people and fostering positive relationships” Ms Siyanda Nkambule, UB Ambassador 2025-2026
