The UB Ambassadors Programme is the driving force of our organisation — its hands and feet in action. Each year, we open a formal call for ambassador applications. Candidates are required to submit their applications within the stipulated timeframe and, if shortlisted, attend a scheduled interview. Throughout the process, we aim to provide every applicant with a professional and meaningful experience, similar to applying for a formal job opportunity.
Successful candidates are invited to attend an in-person induction workshop. During this session, ambassadors are introduced to:
Ambassadors follow a structured annual programme with clearly defined goals and performance measures to track engagement and successful completion. Upon fulfilling all programme requirements, ambassadors receive a Certificate of Completion and a formal Letter of Recommendation.
Above all, this experience is designed to cultivate social advocacy, leadership, and community service among all participants.
Here are some glowing reviews from previous ambassadors:
“My favourite part [about being an UB ambassadors] is learning things about SRH that even I didn’t know especially as a teenager seeing as SRH knowledge is pretty uncommon in my age group, and how I get to be part of a group that advocates for it, which also gives me a sense of belonging while not only interacting with my age mates but the older ambassadors too” Ms Ofentse Mkhabela, UB Ambassador 2024-2025
“[I enjoy] connecting with people and fostering positive relationships” Ms Siyanda Nkambule, UB Ambassador 2025-2026

As the new year begins, it is almost impossible not to feel or believe that it marks a fresh start. Although the days and circumstances may appear unchanged, simply calling it a new year—a new set of 365 days—creates a sense of potential. This period becomes a space for setting new goals, adopting new perspectives, and most importantly, embracing the opportunity for a new beginning.
Comprehensive Sexual Education (CSE), also referred to as Life Skills and Health Education (LSHE), remains a primary focus at Ubusha Bami. When setting our goals for 2026, we felt it was fitting to amplify our commitment to this cause. The theme for our year is clear: 2026 AMPLIFY CSE/LSHE!
Amplification is not merely a visual change; it is an action. At Ubusha Bami, in partnership with young people across Africa, we aim to maintain an ongoing conversation about CSE and LSHE throughout 2026. Our intention is to keep momentum and drive the agenda for fact-based, age-appropriate, and culturally relevant sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) information, delivered by youth for youth.
Learning is a lifelong process, regardless of age. However, the skills acquired during our formative years significantly influence our decisions and behaviour, ultimately shaping the adults we become. Revisiting and reinforcing a theme repeatedly helps us recall vital information when needed and enables us to make informed decisions. As noted by IRIS, “Repetition is a crucial learning tool because it facilitates knowledge transfer from the conscious to intuitive or deeper recollection levels.” Therefore, repeated lessons on fact-based, age-appropriate, and culturally appropriate sexual and reproductive health rights information foster informed decision-making.
Is it our parents, our teachers, community leaders, just boys, or just girls? In short, everyone needs an amplified CSE/LSHE year—no exceptions.

Ubusha Bami, Futhi yimi lo! — translated as “My Youth and this is me!” is an organisation that encourages full youth participation in creating, facilitating, and sharing information about sexual and reproductive health rights.
Each year, we select new young people for our annual ambassador’s programme. The programme involves training ambassadors in peer-to-peer learning, social advocacy, and delivering SRHR information. Ambassadors also gain exposure to nonprofit work and organisational skills. Additionally, they receive guidance and support in applying to social advocacy conferences, symposiums, or scholarship opportunities.
In 2025, UB recruited six ambassadors aged 17–24, all Black women with strong ambitions and a passion for serving and learning. Meet the 2025/26 UB ambassadors:
Ms Bongiwe Nkosi – when asked “What is her favourite part of being a UB ambassador?”

“My favourite part about being a Ubusha Bami ambassador is the opportunity to make a real impact in the lives of young people while growing personally and professionally. Being part of a movement that empowers youth to dream bigger, speak louder, and act boldly has been incredibly fulfilling. I especially value the platform to engage with peers, share knowledge, and spark conversations around important topics like mental health, entrepreneurship, and personal development.”
Ms Siyanda Nkambule – When asked ‘What is her hope for SRHR education in South Africa?’

“To not be afraid of spreading the SRH education”
Ms Thiara Muza – When asked ‘What is her favourite part of being an UB ambassador?’

“I love being a part of a team that makes a difference in people’s lives especial in the area of SRH”
Ms Ndivhuwo Ndamatso – When asked ‘What has been her highlight in ambassadorship?’

“The highlight for me has been meeting people who are passionate, driven, and genuinely care about their communities. Whether it was a live session, a campaign shoot, or just planning content together, there’s something powerful about working with people who want to make a difference. I’ve had the chance to grow in confidence and leadership, but also to use my voice in a way that feels authentic.”
Ms Ofentse Mkhabela – When asked ‘What is her hope for SRHR education in South Africa?’

“I hope see SRH education not considered taboo. We should be able to be taught about it freely cause if this was the cause a lot would be prevented, and also given judgement free healthcare and a safe space to learn and ask questions. I hope we continue breaking the silence and the stigma and building a generation that understands their bodies, SRH and that its not supposed to be “taboo”
Ms Zamekile nkambule – When asked ‘What is her hope for SRHR education in South Africa?’

“To reach a higher percentage of boys than girls”
