our story

“No amount of talking about sex is going to diminish the mystery of the experience of it. Sex is Sacred, Not Secret.” ― Christine Laplante

Hi my Name is Mandy Mpatlanyane, I am a medical doctor, I decided to start this initiative because of my love for health education, youth and acknowledging the health gap with regards to youth health matters.

In an ambitious bolt to bridge this gap I was fortunate enough to partner up with a good friend, medical clinical associate by profession and female sexual and reproductive health enthusiast - Ms Khabonina Matsebula.

Our team has had the privilege of growing with the addition of Ms Vanessa Mpatlanyane a seasoned sociologist with a keen interest in family and community relations

We both are servants in the public health sector and don’t only experientially see the youth health educational gaps, but treat the products of its defiencents on a daily, across different generations.

Aristotle said, “Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.”

It is with great compassion and pride to serve the south african community wholistically, however we need to start somewhere to address the entire heart of the people and sexual and reproductive health is our nidus into youth health matters.

We desire that every young person exclaims as Biko stated, “I’m going to be me as I am, and you can beat me or jail me or even kill me, but I’m not going to be what you want me to be.”_Steven Bantu Biko We believe young people can say this with true authority once weaponized with practical solution to some of life's complexities such as sexual and reproductive matters

We also hope to contribute positively to different societal ills plaguing our country such as GBV, rape culture etc.

“How do we reclaim the use of language? Can we get to a point where in SeSotho or isiXhosa women can speak about their genitals without offense given or taken based on the experience of how such words are used & weaponized against us”― Dr Tlaleng Mofokeng

The aim is to address the vast array of topics surrounding sexual and reproductive health, specifically for the youth. We want to achieve this educational goal both practically while maintaining an entertaining engagement among readers, writers and listeners through multiple media tools. Therefore, let us take on this timeless journey, applicable in and out of season and get comfortable, because this space was made for you to stay for awhile… So, Welcome and thank you for accepting the invitation. Ubusha bami, futhi yimi lo!
